The more i read about all this the more i get mad add to that my dislike to Mr Rodgers gets bigger.

Former Manchester United and England striker Michael Owen has signed for Stoke City.

The 32-year-old left Old Trafford in May and is a free agent.

The former Liverpool, Real Madrid and Newcastle striker has 89 caps and 40 goals for his country, though he has not played internationally since 2008.

He spent three seasons at Manchester United but played in only 52 games, netting 17 times. He made only four appearances for the club last season.
Liverpool had earlier dismissed suggestions they were keen to bring the former England striker back to Anfield. Everton and Sunderland also distanced themselves from reports they had attempted to sign Owen during the summer.

Owen career has been blighted by injury problems and he has not played a competitive game since November last year because of a thigh problem, which contributed to him starting just one Premier League game in the last two seasons.

However, he has been staying fit for the current season using a personal programme designed by the Manchester United coaches.

He recently admitted to frustration at the limited opportunities given to him during his time working under Sir Alex Ferguson, but denied suggestions that his time playing in the top flight may have passed or that he was considering retiring from the game.

Owen becomes Stoke's seventh signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Jamie Ness, Geoff Cameron, Michael Kightly, Maurice Edu, Charlie Adam and Steven N'Zonzi.
In total Owen has scored 221 goals in 473 games in all competitions at club level, his last coming in Manchester United's 3-0 win over Aldershot in the last 16 of the Carling Cup on 25 October last year.

Sydney deliver Del Piero

Sydney FC have pulled off the biggest signing in Hyundai A-League history, with Alessandro Del Piero joining the Sky Blues as their marquee man.

In front of a massive media throng, Del Piero confirmed his moved to the Sky Blues following four days of negotiations with Sydney FC chief executive officer Tony Pignata.

The 37-year-old has signed a two-year deal reportedly worth around $2.5 million per season. There are also reports that he could choose to play on for a third year.

"I am happy to announce that a few hours ago, I signed my new deal with Sydney FC and for the next two years will be Australian," Del Piero said in Italian to reporters on Wednesday morning.

"I have to admit that at the end of this long journey there could be no better place and situation.

"What happened makes sense and I am happy to start this adventure.

"I wanted to highlight and thank all the teams with whom I had contact. It's been a long journey indeed, but necessary to thoroughly analyse the best choice.

On Del Piero's official website, the striker released a letter in English detailing his reasons for choosing Sydney.

"It wasn't an easy decision," Del Piero said.

"I wanted to evaluate with great attention all the possibilities and offers I received in these months.

"I've made my choice and it's Sydney and the only thing I can say today is that I can't wait to start

"Why Sydney? First of all, because they really wanted to have me there.

"They weren't the only ones, but the project they presented, seemed to be specially tailored for me, it won me over both as an athlete and a person.

"I'm moving to Australia not only to continue my football career and to give my best for my new team, but also to live a new experience that surely will be new for me, enlightening and exciting.

"I'm a football player and I want to stress out that I'm well aware of joining a society that wants to grow and to prove itself and they've chosen me also for this reason.

"I don't underestimate this challenge, on the contrary. I'm going there to win, to be competitive, to give the very best with my team, to be a full protagonist.

"I was lucky to win everything during my career and to end it in Italy winning once again with the team of my life: the Juventus.

"I was looking for something new, something different, something that wouldn't have things in common with my past: a totally new experience. And I have found it in Sydney."

And Del Piero even had time to joke about the famous second-round clash between Australia and Italy at the 2006 World Cup, a game decided by a late penalty that still remains a sore point for many Australians.

"We have not talked about Australia and Italy in 2006," he joked.

"I'll try to do some more goals so they can forgive me."

Can't wait being a Sydney FC fan.

A comment about Liverpool's offense:
When you buy players like Suarez and Caroll who were top scorers in their previous teams and you find them useless, then you must see what the real problem is (not only Liverpool's but problem of the modern English football in total). YOU DON'T HAVE CAPABLE MIDFIELDERS TO PASS THEM THE BALL PROPERLY.
Chelsea had the same problem with Torres, last year they passed the ball 1 or 2 times in 90 minutes to him with 2 or more defenders to watch him and he couldn't score. He was "useless" too. But this year with young talented and creative midfielders behind him, he scored twice in 3 games so far.

100% agree.

I have made same comment in old BPL Thread. Suarez ( For me until this time, he have showed good performances if we considered lack support ). and Carroll ( Still believe, his price is too high ) not bad strikers, but KD's scheme not support them, and both not matching for playing together with the scheme that time. Plus Boards not too good for analyze the situation and not too good when giving budget ( But still amazed when they gave lot money for bought Carroll ).

Hope there's improvement in the future. I think Suarez will be good if he got
"freedom". He always cause problems for defenders with his unpredicted movement.
