![]() um...okeeeey. any relevance?
you're basically saying that british "colonial times" simply means pre-1983! i doubt that's what JK meant. ----- btw, why isn't NI in the list of BOTs? irish sea not a "sea"? or are they in a "tighter" state of dependency? like england at core, wales and scotland next, NI third, BOTs fourth, commonwealth fifth? GB = england, wales, scotland UK = GB + NI is that the starting point? |

Northern Ireland, as was the case with the whole of Ireland before most of it became independent in the 1920s, is one of the 4 nations that constitute the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. They are 100% British, stand equally with England, Wales, and Scotland, and are not a dependency. ![]()

The film ends with Wallace in London, tried for high treason, and condemned to public torture and beheading. Even whilst being hanged, drawn and quartered, Wallace refuses to submit to the king. Hardly confusing... Quote:
Unfortunately for them, the referendum didn't work out in favour of Scottish independence. Many in Scotland are still calling for a new referendum, but so far have not been granted the right to hold one. It may well however happen some day: watch this space.

![]() You mention Scotland and Ireland in posts, I love both and our production filming here in Alberta currently moves to Scotland next month with a stop in Ireland before going to New Zealand. It will put over 1000 people to work in all, some as extras but mostly support and crew. I meant around the 16th to 19th century specifically, and the same time period of the show Outlander which in my opinion is one of the best productions I've ever seen and continue to love. I've optioned book 9 just in case someone pulls the plug before then. Season 7 has been greenlighted even though season 6 is currently in production. The 2 leads are in their final year of their contracts though so it will take some serious arm twisting and money to keep them. Without them I won't exercise my option. ------------------- I can finally put The Magicians to rest having just finished season 5. My William was on the Board at SyFy and was an avid fan of the production, he even modeled one of the female leads after my "notorious exploits" but didn't live to see it conclude. Episode 13, the finale was done with class. Episode 12, The Balls musical episode made me smile from ear to ear lol. I adore Jade Tailor who plays Kady. She will work with us in the future if I have any say. Although cancelled fret not as interest grows and a planned resurrection is in its infancy via a bring back campaign. I helped make it happen previously when SyFy cancelled another popular show that was brought back on Amazon Prime... The 'Magicians' Writers Planned A Series Ending Before The Show Was Even Canceled By Kelly Schremph April 1, 2020 After five magic-filled seasons, Syfy's The Magicians won't return after its April 1 finale. The network announced in early March that the show would be coming to an end — but it's something executive producers John McNamara and Sera Gamble prepared for. "We had the sense going into this season that Syfy, in particular as our first platform, was kind of hitting the point of 'The cup is full and there's no more room,'" Gamble told TVInsider shortly after word of The Magicians' cancellation broke. Initially, they shopped around the show to other networks who might be interested in picking up the show. But "none of them seemed in the end like a perfect financial or creative fit," McNamara said. "And so we reluctantly just decided, 'Well at least we have this season finale that was crafted to also be a series finale. It was kind of always going to pull double duty." Added Gamble: "When Henry [Alonso Myers] and I wrote the finale, there really wasn't a difference in approach to writing it because I honestly*never*counted on there being another season." That's not to say the writing team was eager to end*The Magicians. Given the creative and fantastical nature of the show, it could have gone on indefinitely. But Gamble and McNamara feel fortunate to have been given enough of an advanced warning to plan a satisfying conclusion. "We feel pretty good about the season finale. I feel like it is very much in keeping with the spirit of the show," Gamble told TVInsider. "It really says what we wanted to say about [the characters'] journey into adulthood." It's difficult to envision a world without Brakebills or*Eliot and Margo's entertaining banter, but at least if this has to be goodbye, it'll be on the show's terms. --------------- Next on my list is The Tudors... |

![]() As I await seasons 1 and 3 of The Tudors I have the 4 seasons of Mr Selfridge on tap. Great cast and fun plot starting in 1909 London... I really like Jeremy Piven.
Mr Selfridge is a British period drama television series about Harry Gordon Selfridge and his department store, Selfridge & Co, in London, set from 1908 to 1928. It was co-produced by ITV Studios and Masterpiece/WGBH for broadcast on ITV. The series began broadcasting on ITV on 6 January 2013 and 30 March 2016 on PBS in the United States. |
