![]() His Dark Materials season 2 has been waiting to be watched for months. I almost just deleted it having forgotten a lot of season 1.
I thought it was just going to be a 1 season show and wasn't really looking to invest time in a continuing story. I have to say though once I started watching I got right back into it and really enjoyed season 2. Production values are off the charts with stunning interesting worlds and visuals; great story. |

![]() finished wanda. first 3 eps were interesting, but got tiresome upon rewatch. middle 3 eps i loved -- LOVED. final 3 eps took a turn which i totally didn't enjoy. maybe others would, but i'd use the term "letdown" myself.
i was never into superhero stuff, tho. the middle 3 were more along the lines of X-files or the matrix; wish it had stuck to that. ![]() |

![]() I've just started watching Inspector Falke (German language series) on the World Drama section of the UK's All Four channel. Very engaging plot, with a good pace, good acting and production values. Fingers crossed that they can keep it up. The Bridge it ain't but that would be a very hard act to follow! Seen quite a few great series on that channel, particularly those recommended under the erudite Walter Presents brand.

![]() Shadowplay: an NYPD homicide detective is sent to West Berlin in the aftermath of WWII, and works on a murder investigation that involves the Soviets and Berlin's murky underworld.
Good performances, an involving storyline, and 'noir' good cinematography.

![]() I picked up the 5 seasons of a British period series called Poldark and am partway through season 1. It's a somewhat interesting show set in colonial times Britain broadcast originally on PBS
It is as much research for fresh talent that might deserve a second look as much as it is for entertainment. It's definitely not up to Outlander standards but is well worth a view. It could use more fighting though. Good cast and Harriet Ballard has managed to catch my attention. Somewhat related, we move filming to Scotland next month and 2 of the actresses taking part were actually discovered while researching a Scottish Colonial production I watched last year... plus they work for scale lol. |

![]() i'm a little naive -- when was britain in colonial times? are u talking when the romans were all up in "hibernia" and the like?
if you're talking britain AS the colonizer, still, what does that mean time-wise? in the US we think of it as the 1600s and 1700s, scotland and ireland way earlier, and places in asia and africa way later. to my ears "UK colonial times" covers pretty much half of written history! are we talking middle ages here? standard "king arthur"/"spamalot" type drama? |

The Commonwealth of Nations is a different matter: it consists of 54 Nations most of which were once British colonies (but not all). Some of them are kingdoms in their own right, with the British monarch as head of state. In addition to the UK itself, examples of this include Australia, New Zealand, Canada and 12 other nations.
