what's the diff between 3 mins and 3 weeks in that case?

The software doesn't care whether the post has been replied to, there is no difference between 'replied' to and 'not replied to.'
Your edit time is what it is.

One of the other forums I'm at used to allow an hour, and it really needed it because you were answering 'technical' questions, now it's five minutes edit time there - know what we do if we run out of time? Make a follow-up post.

If it concerns you that much, write it out in draft, use preview, and edit away - before you post it.

All 'that are in charge' are members of this forum, they all started here, almost like you did (I say almost as Junior Member didn't exist when many of us joined). This isn't 'us' and 'them,' it's 'us' including 'those among us trying to keep some kind of order to the place.'

If people didn't abuse the place, we probably wouldn't need so many staff, but some people are here more for what they get out of it, than contributing to the good of the forum as a whole.

That's the world we live in, people will 'look after number one' and not care if their way of doing things makes it harder for others.

If you really hate 'those that are in charge' that much, you basically have two options:

1: Join us, and change 'the system' from inside, although I suspect that when you see what actually goes on 'behind the scenes' you'll realise it's not that simple.

2: Find another forum where those 'that are in charge' meet your standards.

it's against the rules, isn't it? the one about things being posted openly.

and it's annoying as hell. when someone makes a request or a model ID or something, only to get that for an answer. so what about the other 5000 of us that were interested in the answer?

still not clear to me what the point even is. if the material needs to be hidden (child pr0n or copyright vio or w/e), then it has no place in PMs either! this murky area of trading things in secret is just plain wrong.
