Well in the non-porn world the director or producer usually has the last word on the final cut. I have no idea how it is in porn.

All I know is I see a lot of porn with a free roaming camera, with no cuts, so I assume the camera man has been given free reign by the director/producer.

Anyone have a clue?

I get the feeling some of these "productions" are so chintzy and cheap, it's not even really thought out too thoroughly. My guess would be that the director/ producer really has no idea as to camera angles or lighting other than "get a shot of her pussy". I'm not willing to bet that most of the productions out there are done on a shoe string budget with slim to no production values.

That's not to say there aren't well thought out big budget productions, but in porn that can be pretty rare.

In the old days (70s porn) some of the cameramen were from legit films and they were either learning the craft to get their foot in the door to camerawork in legit films or they were already legit cameramen moonlighting for extra $$$.

They chose funny alias names for themselves like slappy sam or gung ho george and sometimes changed their name from one movie they worked on to the next.
