Most 1/2 hour programs have a standardized running time of 22 minutes without commercials on network television... you got 2 bonus minutes. You would be hard pressed to find a 1 hour program longer than 44 minutes in North America

Kidding lol. I love it and it reinforces my thought that the justice system isn't completely broken for an hour at a time.

Then I remember it's TV and not based on reality but is someone's fantasy that there is still hope left in the world.

I have just finished watching all 8 episodes of season 1 (On October 22, 2019, the show has been renewed for a second season).

It's not bad, but my faith in the California legal system has not received any boosts: judges and counsellors secretly meeting in secluded stairwells on a regular basis to discuss cases and make deals is not what I would call good judicial practice.

It just so happens that they do so to get the "good defendants" off, or give them a fair outcome, but says nothing about such secret deals being also used to bury alive into the prison system those defendants they do not like.

Also, it is absurd that not a single swearword is uttered during the entire season: makes it sound like a phony feel-good family drama/comedy that skirts around the real issues.

One problem with the legal system is as soon as it goes to trial it's not about guilt or innocence and it becomes all about wins and losses for the players.

If that weren't the case judges would never have to hear motions and all evidence would be fair game.
