The same old ridiculous request for a filehost/sponsor to be banned/replaced
Last edited by buttsie; 13th May 2011 at 03:45.
Reason: adding comment
Never mind that large portions of recent posts would suddenly be dead to ALL I'm no fan of any host as i realise all too well their only in it to turn a profit but even the dumbest can see no forum is going to comply with such a request unless the problem is widespread for the majority. Even if it were what makes you think the hosts that would take up the slack wouldnt then experience a huge traffic increase which would inevitably see them implement similar increased waiting times / slower speeds / user daily limits? We saw it with Megaupload when Rapidshare imploded...i shudder to think how they would cope with the volume Oron is currently holding given even now occasional posts point to the fact that random uploads there have been inaccessible for weeks because of server issues...their not even close to being an alternative Their now at the stage where their fast speeds for free users cut out after 1-1.5GB per day which puts them on par with Oron 5 gb every 3 days As to the waiting times expanding to hours that really is taking the piss Further emphasizes to me that the biggest group who download from such hosts are more than likely then simply re-uploading to it themselves Use the solutions and bypass them is about all you can do 1. request an re-upload to another filehost 2. search out the files on another filehost via filestube 3. If you cant access the filehost at all try VPN Tunnel solution - see sticky |

this is the real current reality of file hosts: it does not matter what type of media is.. movies, television, games, music or porn. ALL scene and p2p releases are instantly available on fileserve and filesonic.
i bet you there would be a never ending list of stuff not available on crappy oron that you can find shit loads of on fileserve and filesonic with a simple google search! netload, depositfiles and more specifically rapidshare mirrors are not as common compared to a couple of years ago but there is loads of stuff out there from when they were the uploaders no.1 choice for quite a number of years; also there is still some very dedicated rls blogs/uploaders out there that continue to provide them for all the new stuff despite not having an appealing reward system compared to the FS's or none at all in rapidshares case. megaupload is the most rare out of all those mentioned because they have always had extremely slow capped upload speed limits. that being said i still think u would find links for heaps more stuff on mu compared to oron lol |

My experience
My experience is that filesonic is the slowest to download files from. I have downloaded files faster from Oron for free than I have been able to download files from filesonic which I paid for.

Saw what with Megaupload..?
Last edited by Frosty; 13th May 2011 at 03:11.
Last I checked, they haven't added any long wait times, cut speed or imposed a daily limit. I downloaded about 6GB worth of stuff last night, and had to wait about 20 minutes in the middle of it. Oh, the inhumanity.... And since when did oron sucking for free users end up in the minority..? If you read some of these threads, they are in the majority and have been for quite sometime now. And if they weren't paying for ad space, this host would have been tossed a long time ago. Quote:
Old posts containing banned hosts are allowed to stay under a "grandfather" rule. New links however are not allowed to be posted. |

What did we see with Megaupload after the rapidshare implosion
RS users looking for a new host...MU seemed to fit the bill from the end user point of view..no waiting times...fast speeds.....I remember very well MUs speeds went haywire for a time but worse than that they werent reliable for long term storage of files even those not reported....fast forward to today and what I read is a lot of them have slowly drifted away from MU because of these storage issues with files just disappearing or still existing but somehow unavailable for days/weeks with the temporay unavailable sign. As to the majority...600,000+ members 3% choosing to voice their displeasure in the I hate this Host threads...sounds like a minority to me if we're talking who accesses download links... All that aside I just wish people would use their heads a bit before going the same "this host sucks Ban it". If admin banned every host that this question has been asked after I'm not sure there would be anyone left Mediafire perhaps? Requiring 2 hosts per post,1 of which isnt a leading reward scheme player makes a lot of sense if your aiming to offer free users the best access Maybe the 12 Allowed hosts should be divided into 2 pools? |

I'm not sure but I've been told that if you do not download a given file before the link expires, the file's size will be deducted from your download limit anyway.
Can anyone confirm this?.

usually it clears up for me in an hour or less. but none of the other issues you've mentioned. My speeds been about the same, and if any of my files has disappeared I haven't noticed it. Quote:
and people who haven't logged on in months or years. Other 200,000 are probably quiet leechers who wouldn't say sh*t if they had a mouth full of it, and the other 200,000+ use oron, vilesonic, hotfile and depositfiles, so their vote doesn't count. Quote:
all this forum has to do is make it where you can only post crappy hosts with good ones. They want oron, vilesonic, depositfiles or hotfile...fine. Post it with a Megaupload/Megaporn/Rapidshare/ or Mediafire link with it. And none of that depositfiles/vilesonic/oron crap I've been seeing. Make them post a good host with their shiny penny one, and the second their good host link gets "reported", post goes in the garbage. If people want to use the cash hosts, then they are there. If people want to use a good host, then they are there as well. |

You can que links in a D/L manager all day and not worry though. But if you have any interruption- tough shit. They don't like D/L managers, mainly as a way of forcing you into a premium account. By allowing only slow free D/L rates they know the chances of bandwidth interruption through a browser D/L are high.
