Boy, I'd hate to get this thread padlocked, this close to the end, over a religious discussion. Jus' sayin'.

This round, like the one before it, has been particularly tough: so many great acts that despite doing the right thing by choosing one's favourites, it makes one feel sorry for the others...
Anyway, to make up for a band I didn't vote for in this round, here's some Emerson, Lake and Palmer: Some Nirvana (here Kurt dedicates the song to Courtney Love saying she is "The Best Fuck In The World"). I was lucky enough to be in the studio audience for that performance:

X: Once a band reaches a level of popularity in which they are known as a novelty and not necessarily for their music, then yes, they will never be as good as people say. However, they have made a ton of great music over the years and they're still doing it. That's more than most of bands can say.

I liked their early blues covers with the skiffle beats in the early 60s, and they had a few moments later on, but Some Girls pretty much sealed their fate with me. I still prefer them to the Beatles though, even if they are a caricature of their former selves.

Patryn: You know, I wish I knew people like you in my upbringing. I heard a lot of sermons by hard-nosed Southern preachers and dealt with a lot of matter-of-fact wannabe saints growing up, but I never ran into many Christians that were open-minded individuals who simply believed. I've always felt that we Atheists and Christians should be able to form an understanding, but due to hostility caused by both sides, it's hard to. You're moving things in the right direction, though, and I respect you for it.
I know, I know Urge. No religion. We're not talking about religion. We're talking about music...er, sports. Broadcasting. Something like that. Anyway, just to get The Doors to the top spot, here's a song by a band called Bloodsimple who took the lyrical imagery of "The End" and expanded it. Hopefully, this will relate to others of my generation better. |

I also really like their live albums Get Yer Ya-Yas Out! and Love You Live. Back in the day, I used to be very anti-disco, so when Emotional Rescue rescue came out I was appalled: the Stones doing disco!!??? They did redeem themselves with Tattoo you, particularly with the Slave track from that album:
