Was it me or did Batista's return fall flat. He comes out, I don't really feel anything, not even a smirk. He cuts a really boring ass promo then leaves and as usual everyone in WWE is like 'OMG it's the greatest return ever'.. cut the crap, it sucked. I wanted a bad ass promo on Randy but it was Randy who was being entertaining with his rant on the Authority. Heck even Big Show mocking Heyman was entertaining.

Also were we really led to believe Cena showed up 5 minutes before the show was ending. Mr first in the door and last out. I know his dad took a few shots out of sight behind a barricade, which frankly him falling to the floor probably hurt more and Cena, I guess, was meant to be by his side but you know he's had a full f'n week with him, not like he's dying.

I also want Rumble confusion cleared up, is Daniel Bryan in it or what.. He should win it but I doubt that now. I just think Batista is too obvious then again last year Cena was glaringly obvious so I guess I can't factor that.

its not just you. I wasn't so enthusiastic about the Batista return either. I guess I just expect more from a big return, but then we can't all have a Brock Lesnar type return.

Bryan could be a surprise entrant. it is probably one of those things they wont clear up, so if he comes out then it is a bit of a surprise.

Lebron James got his WWE title. I give his Rock attempt a 3/5.

There was something I missed from RAW this week, and I was reminded about it when I read Love Buzz's prediction post for the Royal Rumble.

Thinking about Batista's return more, it felt like being sent back 6 years in time. The promo sounded just like he never left, as a face. He talks soft, then gets all serious, and half the time, he botches, the other half, such as this week, he didn't. The skinny jeans, I didn't pay too much attention, until looking at the powerbomb multiple times. Ugh. The collar, I noticed more when he kissed the canvas. More ugh. I don't know the guy personally, but that wardrobe screams "douche" to me.

He would've got a better response if he came in as a surprise Royal Rumble entrant, instead, he's advertised a month in advance, and during that time, people aren't fed a bunch of boring stuff that makes them pray for January 20th to rush on. Particularly Daniel Bryan, and it was clear he got a better response than Batista.

Speaking of Bryan and returns, the night after Wrestlemania 28, when he was top discussion in the world, everyone forgot that for a bit when Lesnar came back. Especially since it was a surprise. Nearly 2 years later, you can't do that with an advertised return.

Yesterday's Steve Austin podcast was part 2 of his conversation with Rowdy Roddy Piper. Both parts had the guy speak very openly and candidly, pretty rough life and all. Most newsworthy though was in part 2, he revealed something of a last request in his wrestling career. He wants Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania 30. I didn't transcribe this by the way.

“First of all, from a fan’s perspective and from the WWE Universe and Vince, it never had closure. The business that would be done, the interviews and stuff would be coming from the heart. You could try to raise the bar of the WWE entertainment machine in our sport if they let us go toe-to-toe and don’t script us. Then the fan will see really how it got started and why and see the conclusion. They’re asking, can I get in shape? I’m already in shape. They’re asking Hogan, but there’s a fear, I guess, of whether we could pull off the performance.”

It ties into some out-there reports of Piper and a heel vs. Cena and Hogan. If Punk was a heel months in advance, it would be perfect, but ah well.

Batista better get that spotlight back on him, I'm now 99% sure it fed him special promo powers. I don't want the skinny jean imposter going for the belt. Really I didn't want to say it as I'm no fashion guru but he looked stupid or a douche as 7C said.

No doubt he is still in decent shape but it looks like he's shrunk a few inches.
I was also disappointed that he didn't finish off ADR with the Batista bomb.
Must be because of the skinny jeans that he was wearing that night.

What made Brock Lesnas' return so worked was that it closed out Raw with Cena and Brock. Bryan actually only had a backstage interview promo that aired on Raw. He wasn't in the ring until he had the 6-man tag team match that happened off-air after Raw.

DB was the talk on wrestling on the Internet but was kept under the rug on Raw until they went off air.

They were also in the Rock's hometown Miami(or nearby) and when Cena got the F5, the crowd just went nuts.

I can't even blame Batista for this failure because the WWE screwed it up badly.

A Royal Rumble surprised entrant would have been amazing. They can even have Triple H "claim" to have brought Batista back. Making it unpredictable if he's going to be a heel or a face. If he's a heel - make him Triple H's appointed face of the franchise. If he's a face, let him say he came on his own and is after the WWE title - (subtle way of calling Triple H a liar). They could even get a feud out of the two if they wanted to. Putting Batista against Del Rio or Orton obviously makes him a face.

Despite the fan response for Batista, the more casual fan proved to be more into his return.

WWE wanted a great turnout for a Batista returned and they got it on this past week’s episode of WWE Raw. The show received an average viewing audience of 4,869,000. Below is the hourly breakdown:

Hour 1 – 5,249,000 million viewers
Hour 2 – 4,995,000 million viewers
Hour 3 – 4,363,000 million viewers

The bright side shows a huge turnout in the Batista’s return as more than 5 million people watched, but almost 1,000,000 people changed the channel two hours later.

This week's HHH interview was done by Renee Young!

She asked about Randall's behavior. Hunter basically neglected it, and put whatever responsibility that has to be placed, on Randall himself. The topic of Lesnar and Big Show, whether the former's the same guy Hunter fought against and ended up bringing him back. A few shows where Big Show's all over him.

What he thinks about their one on one match.

CM Punk entering as number 1, Hunter said it's Punk's chance to prove that he's really what he says he is. Renee asked how Punk would fair, Hunter's only response...

Lastly, would Batista make an ideal "face of the company." Hunter didn't give a "yes" or "no," saying he has hurdles and stuff to climb. The last question was if Hunter could see Dave as the face of WWE.

What would be interesting is if Dave wins the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, then turns heel by joining Hunter and Steph. Oust Randall, without turning him face. Then it can be CM Punk vs. Batista at Summerslam, or Daniel Bryan vs. Batista. I think there will at least be Brock vs. Batista, and Cena again.

my blood sugar is 6.7 at this moment in time. I like to keep it around 7, so this is spot on.

oh yeah, on to WWE

I've been sitting thinking about the Royal Rumble. I reckon Daniel Bryan will be in it, but he isn't going to win ( awwwwwwwwww dry your eyes) I just thought this since the other Wyatt guys are in there. I'm going for a Bray win in their match, but I'm not super confident. I think it is the toughest match to call. I could see a dq with the family interfering.

Harper and Rowan are both in the Rumble at once, then the countdown and Doctor Daniel Bryan comes out cleans house, maybe he eliminates himself while he is going on the rampage. Sleazy move, but anything to save face I guess.

CM Punk is interesting. He is definitely going to get close to the win, but something tells me ( history!) he will be screwed. It is written in the stars.

Jim Ross revealed in an interview Grantland.com the reasoning behind his WWE release last summer and as expexted it had to do with the controversial WWE 2K14 Panel before the SummerSlam pay-per-view last year which featured an intoxicated Ric Flair.

"I don't think you have to be a Mensa member to figure out that it had an influence on decisions that were made. I was working with the developmental kids [in NXT] and enjoying that, and got called in for that job."

"It was a very unique night, to say the least. Ric was coming off maybe the most traumatic time of his life. [Flair's son Reid had recently died of a drug overdose.] In hindsight, it might not have been the most timely booking, to get him in that environment. And then you can look at the other side and say maybe it's a good thing to get him out around friends. As it worked out, you'd probably lean more to the former than the latter. But here's the deal. I was conductor of a runaway train. I was supposed to keep it on the tracks and that didn't happen. So I don't have any issues taking responsibility. Did I envision that it would help facilitate my exit? No. But I could see the thinking behind it."

"But honestly, people might not believe this, and I don't want to give one of those eye-rollers, but it really came at a good time. My health is good, I just celebrated my 62nd birthday, I got a lot of projects going. I'm going to start a podcast soon with the same company that does Austin and Jericho. I'm excited about that.
