monica foster is spelled m0nica on both PATM threads. as a result, easy to overlook in PATM index and totally UNFINDABLE by search!

there's a few more like this.

also, link for her HD thread, specifically, comes up 404. dunno if there ever WAS one, but it's there in the index (with the -0-).

"eek" one has some suitable substitutes, i suppose, but just nothing even close for "confused".

Just in case you haven't noticed, in the smiley window it now says [more] at the bottom and we have added a few more that you will see if you click that. We can only add the icons etc. for smilies that already exist in the forum database because we do not have server access to upload more.

I cannot address the first part of your complaint at all, period, end of story.

As far as that index, the moderator who created it and maintained it left staff a long time ago. As a result, it is no longer maintained because honestly we are short on staff everywhere at this forum so PATM mods just try to keep up with the volume of posts as best they can and have no time to maintain an index.

All I can say is that the thread may have been removed for some reason and the index is no longer being maintained.

np. my guess is the thread became moot when the last of its entries went "dead link".

I'd remove the 'ignore' function or change it to flag staff of a potential problem post, user or ill will between members.

Can staff see who is being ignored? Does the person being ignored know they've been set to ignore and by who?

It ultimately seems a bit pointless for a discussion forum.

That's a feature in the original software and we cannot make any changes to that. You would have to go directly to vBulletin and ask that question. It's a feature intended to allow a member the option of not being notified in subscribed threads and reading a member's posts if they choose to do so.

Staff cannot see if a member is being ignored by anyone else and I do not believe that the member being ignored by anyone knows about it.

I'd improve the search feature... too many times when I search for a starlet's name I get all kinds of unrelated threads that come up on the top of the search and have to sort through pages and pages of these threads before finding the actual thread was searching for.

Also, sometimes the search will drop a name if it considers it to be too common. For example, if I search for "Tia Tanaka" the function will drop "Tia" from the search as it's "either very common, too long, or too short" to be "included in your search". This is aggravating. Can't the search function search for the complete name "Tia Tanaka" instead of dropping the "either very common, too long, or too short" and giving a bunch of unrelated threads?

This has been discussed here numerous times.

We can't 'fix' the search feature.

1: It's limited by the technology of vBulletin 3, even with the add-ons/upgrades from Dragonbyte.

2: It's limited by the size of the forum and load that creates on the servers.

3: In your instance it drops Tia because it is 'too short' - it doesn't currently accept 3 letter words. There are threads here they suggest various 'workarounds' but basically if you want to search here for something with 3 letters - use Google, or a similar search engine.
The search function here will search for the 'complete name' as 'two words in the same post' - we cannot change that.

As I have so often said in my 10 years here, 'if you think it's hard for you, imagine what it's like trying to moderate with it.'

The answer to an awful lot of the questions/suggestions in this thread is probably 'Change the forum software' - but that just opens up a whole bunch of other issues.

Just search for 'Tanaka' instead, or do as Gwynd suggested and use Google.
