Oh, please get me right, it wasn't something that you or anybody else said that made me think this.

I guess i'm just searching for a uber-clever way to convince myself and that makes it easier for me to offer also oron-mirrors (by coming to the conclusion that the downloaders are of course NOT simpled-minded and so i would just follow their wish). But this argumental acrobatics does not work very well ...

Personally I like Megaupload. I've never had an issue with them. It's easy to use and most of the movies I get are all in one file. Burning them to dvd they work in my ps3 and i'm freakin happy. I don't understand why people still use Rapid share or this ORON or Fileserve or hotfile. They all suck in my opinion compared to Megaupload.

You not off-topic at all Louis, every uploader has to kick themselves over this question. It comes down to what you want- and whether you're an uploader or a downloader it comes down to convenience.

When I started downloading it really didn't matter. The amount of content I wanted was small- so as a then causal downloader I didn't mind some wait times or slower (within reason) D/L's.

But the trend is that more and more people get TV and movies from the web. So I started getting host accounts. After a while those wait times just suck and slow D/L speeds got bothersome. I did this for my own convenience. I like watching a movie the same night I download it.

When I began to upload content I thought about it in terms of a downloader. I hated the wait times on some hosts, and the restrictions of some others. So I looked for the hosts that gave the best speeds to free (unregistered) users. There really aren't that many. In fact its almost a no brainer if you've had experience with most of them.

At this point, still a matter of personal convenience. I have had as many 6 premium accounts at any given time. The amount of content I want being mainly on a given host determines when and if I buy a premium 30 day account- 10GB is the minimum.

I have uploaded to 4, MU, MF, RS and HF. I'm likely to drop 2 of them, in favor of Rapidshare and Megaupload. Others will have differing considerations, but it always comes down to what's either expedient or convenient.

For hosts like oron its a use'em, then lose'em deal for me, but I won't support them by posting with them. Same with filsonic. I have the account, but I'd rather force them to bankrupt themselves by downloading then deal with them as a hoster for my files.

For free users no one else can match Megaupload in terms of reliability, speed and no waiting time between downloads. I also like Netload in terms of the speed at which you can download. But the waiting time between downloads isn't good.

Oron absolutely sucks!!! Since it first emerged I think I have successfully downloaded 3 - 4 files, and that could only be managed by setting up a proxy connection.

You are missing the point, it is all about how musch the various hosters pay the uploaders.
oron currently pays the most so it will be used the most dispite the fact its the shittiest hoster for downloaders premium and free.
rapidshare used to be good to uploaders untill they shot themselves in the foot.

all the others are fair to poor so you wont find posters rushing to upload their files to megaupload or anyone else.

we will just have to wait until oron does the same thing as rapidshare , when they cut the rewards to nothing you will see a mass migration to other hosters.

sad but thats the way it is.

Ive gone back to usenet, dispite all the spam its still a damn sight cheaper than paying out for oron and getting a poxy download limit.

No, it wouldn't be bad at all. In the television section where I DL the most, I've asked pitt and himmelsta for alternate hosts and they've always done so quickly. Those guys are dedicated to that section though. I'm sure that some other posters in different sections would be willing to do the same if asked.
