it depends on what version of PS you have some of the pre CS versions then you would need to jump to imageready to make the animations.

If you have one of the CS versions then from the menu bar "Windows"-> "Animation" and the ANIMATION (FRAMES) tool should pop up.

The easy way to figure out how to make them yourself by hand is to DL and open one with PS and open the ANIMATION (FRAMES) tool and see how it was done

I've been trying to learn how to make GIFs from movies I have on my hard drive. After reading this thread and poking around I found this utility:

It's a really small freeware download that allows you to make GIFS from movies.

My interest in this topic spontaneously spiked last night. Searched the web a bit, but thought to look it up at one of my most trusted internet spots & voila, here it is, the thread I've been looking for!
Any experience with GIMP? Was a bit worried because I couldn't access their site last
night, it's working now though. From all the free stuff available, that one sounded the
most trustworthy.

While there's still a controversy about gimp, whether it should be considered as a professional tool or not , it is the closest thing to PS you can get for free (unless there's a new guy in town that I'm not aware of)
