Image Grabber keeps freezing/crashing
Everytime I go to save my screencaps from any video the program stops working. I reinstalled and tried all different types of video. Any suggestions?
Also I tried using Media player classic and that was unable to even capture so... |

i fixed it by changing the overlay settings for video Open MPC and goto "View/Options/Output" under "Direct Show Video" select the option "VMR7 Renderless" click "apply" Now close MPC Now fire up Imagebrabber II and it should now work fine |

Having Direct X 9 or higher installed on your PC can also help Imagegrabber run smooth.

As a rule, while I have ffdshow installed, I have disabled it for use Image Grabber. In fact I downgraded the default priority of ffdshow to "unlikely" which still lets me take advantage it's codec support without consuming resources or interfering with other programs. Playing forward only and letting Image Grabber select the images itself it is consistently stable. The only time I have stability issues with it is when I seek back and forth trying to grab that perfect frame, typically with WMV files. But in all fairness, that feature does not exist in most screen maker programs. All that said, Olema's suggestion of Video Thumbnails Maker is worth a look. You may find this thread of use... Pros and Cons Video Thumbnails Maker By Scorp vs. Image Grabber II.NET . That thread also has the actual URL for it, rather than the RS link provided by Olema. |
