Now here's a translation of a french source that you might have missed and that is flagged "solved" for the problem "blue screen under vista" "http://commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-2857182-ecran-bleu-sous-vista" It's maybe not related to your problem, or not far from it, but the guy survived a BSOTD without the original disk, like that, obviously Quote:

If you had a faulty stick of memory i'd expect the laptop to beep at you when it is turned on. Just because Windows will not get past the loading splash screen doesn't necessarily mean it's a hardware fault, though of course it is a possibility. I've seen laptops turn off instantly when in Windows, all that was wrong was the installation was corrupt - a clean install fixed it.

You have limited options if you don't have a Windows disc and can't get into safe mode. Did you make recovery discs when you first purchased the laptop? Do you have a second machine you can use to make a memtest86 disc so that you can test the memory? It boots from the disc before Windows attempts to load so it won't be problematic to do it just needs to be left running for a few hours. |

Yeah I got another computer so I can create a boot disk. I'll let everyone know the outcome as soon as I get around and get this done.

Yeah let us know what happens with the memory.
If the memory turns out to be okay then look into the ultimate boot disc or something similar like Hirens. It could be that some of the boot files have been corrupted. In a lot of cases those boot discs can be a life saver. |
