For porns...i used Window Media Player or Haihaisoft.
But for "normal" movies i used VLC since it worked good for subtitle file ( .SRT) Codec...i only use K-Lite Codec Pack, the best.

I use the K-Lite Mega Pack with MPC and almost never have had an issue with it. One of the reasons is, on the first of each month, I delete the codec pack off of my laptop and do a clean install of the latest one (which BTW is 9.95, not 9.90). This is something I picked up from a tech board... if you install a new build on top of an old one, you risk conflicts with codecs, and could result in broken codecs. (If you choose to do this, make sure you note what basic presets you have, like other video formats and output filters, so you can double check them after a fresh install.)
This method has worked well thus far for me. |

I use MPC Classic.
But I am starting to use Pot Player as it seems to handle HD videos with no codec packs required, and plays them very well!

Once downloaded, whenever you upgrade your codec pack, you can uncheck the MPCHC box, and simply use your existing MPC. BTW, version 9.95 was released on 5/31. |

I suggest you make your player, its not hard work, you can make it very easy with the .net framework(C# or Visual Basic) or you can make an independent player with C++.(the only thing that you need is a good codec).(Visual Studio is the best tools for it).
