Exactly, these are not recreational. Gabapentin has been prescribed as a pain med for a number of years, but I was told it was originally used to treat epileptic seizures. My doc had me try it out and all it did was make me sleepy and it did fuck all for my pain. It performs wildly different for everyone, which is weird, because it seems everyone (and their dog...seriously, dogs too) is on Gabapentin. So, I'm sure vets aren't trying to make dogs trip their balls off. Gabapentin is not recreational.

And to add to that, I used opiates for awhile, for a terrible chest infection that was causing me pain, and I can assure you that all they did was just putting me to sleep and have a terrible bloated stomach, other than having constant blurred vision and headaches.
Shooting them IV, or crush the pills, probably might get you that "Heroin high", but it is very short lived and will only happen 1 time, if all.
After that you're only "chasing your own tail", and when you get to the 3-digits numbers (100-200mg a day), you're no longer in control of your life anymore.
Not worth "flirting with them", or use them recreationally at all, if you ask me.
Just see what happened to most Grunge musicians, some pornstars and the opioid epidemic that has been plagued the USA for a very long time, now, which is also causing addicts to occupy ER rooms to ask for "that medication that starts with the letter D" (that is Dilaudid, which is 10x more potent than Heroin and Oxycodone, and even a single 4mg pill is able to get you high as a kite, as I read).
Not worth it ending up like that.

Besides, I've been taking Paroxetine for 5 years, now.
It definitely helped with my chronic depression and anxiety disorder, and all it does it's making me be able to get out of bed every morning, go for walks, exercise and have a regular life with no crippling anxiety and negative thoughts.
BUT.....I know some people tried using it recreationally, just like Xanax, because of that very calm, "spacey" feeling it gives you.

To be brutally honest, besides some weed or a good beer, I wouldn't use any medication to try to get high.
