Just as there's no media monoculture anymore, there's no porn monoculture either. Everything is very fragmented and nichey, which is great if you happen to be into the particular fetish being catered to, but less great if you're not.

The girls and guys don't seem that interested in becoming huge stars anymore. I think they would almost rather maintain a certain level of privacy and not be too revealing about themselves. Maybe they're saving it for social media or they're trying to be careful about not attracting any deranged reactions.

There's no longevity anymore either because OnlyFans is an option. Camming is another option.

The performers either don't seem to have much of a personality or don't want to reveal it and put it on display. Modern porn girls don't seem as outgoing, confident, nasty or vulnerable. Rather than being larger than life, they're like boring, regular people. Maybe it's the influence of amateur stuff or European porn. There are no dirty talkers anymore. Or at least very few of them. They don't need or want to push themselves so they don't. Everything seems very safe and cautious.

While in general I agree that JAV is a yawnfest (between the pixellation , toys/fingering that goes on f o r e v e r , plus that wierd wimpering ).

However in my opinion the best aspect of japanese porn is indeed their male performers. They look just like the average guy on the street.
