Citizen Kane opens with a close-up of Orson Welle lips uttering the word Rosebud, which later proves to be the key to the film. Rites of Uranus takes a similar approach by opening with a close up of a lit candle being jammed up a girl's ass. Since the movie is all about assfucking, I guess you can say that the shot is the key to this film as well. The guy who manning the candle probe is the High Priest of the Uranusites, a cult devoted to all things rectal, and as his cowled followers beat their flabby meats around him, the High Priest replaces candle with cock and drops a hot dollop of man gravy on the backside of a new inductee. She's quickly replaced by grumpy hippie Sarah, who speaks with the distracted gravity of a Manson girl, but in the middle of her backdoor blitz, the High Priest drops dead. Sarah is thrown into jail while the High Priestess, who is so high she's barely able to spit out her lines, displays her sorrow over the Priest's death by blowing his corpse. Really.

Meanwhile, out on the street, Uranus-ites are handing out fliers to passers by their message (Lost? Find Yourself in Uranus) strikes a chord with bored blonde Diana Goldberg, who pays a visit to the cult temple and has a long, long, long conversation with a trumpet sticking out of a wall that orders her to strip, sign a big piece of poster board that gives her worldly possessions to the cult, and then recite the cult mantra (The penetrating force of my great, hot venom shall shatter the sanctity of the mind) with all the passion of a drive-thru cashier. Meanwhile, Sarah and the High Priestess clash over her imprisonment (I'm locked up here like an un-evolved mammal! I want out! I want a hard-on! I want! I want keys and a hard-on!) until HP caves in and gives her a hard on (attached to a Tom of Finland-looking dude), if only to shut her up. After scratching her snatch itch, Sarah escapes (through the wide-open cell door) and is caught by the High Priestess, who makes another hard-on fuck her while she sticks the Sword of Uranus (one of those plastic pirate swords you could buy at any beachfront junk store in the 70s) up the hard on's ass and then Sarah's twat. No one looks happy about this, but then the High Priest shows up in one of those tuxedo T-shirts and sends Sarah home apparently, she's been going on about Uranusites and this and that and just needs a nice hot bath and some rest. Out goes Sarah and in comes Diana, the latest convert to the High Priest of the Poop Chute!

Definitely weird, weirder and weirdest, but for ass-fucking fans, Rites of Uranus is a hilarious and enjoyable glimpse at how cats your dad's age used to indulge their browneye fetish long before the Dark Brothers and Nacho Vidal cornered the colon market. And the James Gang-style funk on the soundtrack provides an appropriately grimy groove to the dirt track dealings on screen. Plus, the girls are all sleazy-sexy in that never-see-the-sunlight, road-worn-groupie kind of way, and there's an ass punctured on screen every 30 seconds, including one long how-to session in which two drowsy Uranus girls put an Afro'd hard-on through his anal paces. Hail Uranus, indeed.

Surprisingly, The Invocation For The Conjuration of Lust from The Satanic Bible is recited in a Gregorian-styled chant with all exclamations of "Hail Satan" replaced with "Hail to Uranus", although "Shemhamforash" is used as is throughout.

'Sarah' witnesses anal and oral sex in this ceremonial context, to the delight of all involved, as the exuberance of the altar girl increases, wherein the candle is replaced by a red robed celebrant. Then the rest disrobe as the ubiquitous orgy ensues.

Meanwhile, Sarah is introduced to the group as the remainder of the litany from The Conjuration of Lust is recited. Seated thereupon for cunnilingus, with another in coitus, it seems as if the "High Priest" has suffocated, she panics. and is escorted to the Atrium, a barred room in the recesses of the temple. Back in the chamber, the "Priestess" {who more or less looks like a 'Princess of Hell', as it were, with crown} performs fellatio upon the allegedly 'deceased' {shocking necrophilia inclusion}. Although this 'stiff' is anything but...

Sarah grows restless within her cell, and demands relief with some courteous sexual interaction, and is sumptuously attended to. Upon awakening, she discovers the door has been left ajar, and so she goes wandering about the temple to be handcuffed within the main chamber.

She is eventually unchained by the Priestess, who produces the "Sword of Uranus", comprised of an ornate hilt, with the blade being a corkscrewed phallus sleeve, which is diligently inserted into the Uranusite {who seems to enjoy it quite a bit} to increase the sexual energy for her full initiation. Upon climax, she squirms in ecstasy. To her surprise, the "High Priest" comes forth, apparently resurrected, while now confirmed, she is embraced and taken fully into the auspice of the cult.

This sex cult sends out robed acolytes to proselytize by passing out fliers to the public, stating "Lost? Find yourself in Uranus." From the streets to the beach, catching the attention of another pretty girl named Diana, who goes to the office for admittance, and after disrobing to prove her sincerity, is thus granted permission to enter through the voice in the horn. She is led behind the black door where she takes an oath of loyalty, and shall be henceforth cared for by the cult.

Elsewhere in the temple, another novice reclining upon a bed is taught to intensify her orgasms while mutually masturbating before a mirror. when a male Uranusite is brought in for further indulgence.

In the end, a new novice comes forth as she recites the following before a speculum:

"Hail to Uranus. Praise be to The Mighty Cock of Uranus. Enter my dark passage."

The film ends with a fanfare played on the organ. Of note, you may recognize one Mike Ranger {'Paul Scott' in Taboo}, who makes an appearance as one of the Uranusites.

Besides the verbatim recitations of The Invocation For The Conjuration of Lust, the camera angles and lighting is actually well done, The girls are all attractive performers, the set is better than usual, although the 'acting' is what can be expected, and there seemed to have been more of an effort placed into these three overlapping tongue-in-cheek plots.

Description:When I first heard the title of this one, I thought that this would be kind of a thematic adult movie taking place on some really cheap, cheesy alien planet set, perhaps a space serial from yesteryear where hot female astronauts wearing classic 1950’s space suits which had those glass bubbles for helmets. With laughable “Lost in Space” Special effects, science technology that was not feasible then nor today and enough green women to give Captain Kirk ait was sure to be a cheezy/sleazy time to be had by all. Of course, when I saw the cover art above, I immediately realized that when it comes to the hardcore world of the Dragon Art Theatre such promises of fanciful lunar themes are always just a thinly veiled malicious attempt at wit because this show is actually about a cult of hooded freaks who gather round and chant as various objects are stuck up women’s asses. I suppose if it would be disturbing enough if the rectory of ghouls wearing burlap robes just sat and watched the action, and basked in the glow of the ass candles but this cult actually have a chant which is heard verbatim, repeated countless times throughout the movie, it is as follows: “Hail to Your Anus, Your anus takes my thrust and the penetrating force of my grey hot venom shall shatter the sanctity of the mind”. So it seems that that this sect isn’t exactly lunar travelers after all? Yet even so, they do aspire to “shoot for the moon” as often as possible, for this film seems to center on all manner of ass sex and penetration, the most garish of which is by the use of a plastic toy ceremonial sword that has been fused with a dildo, used to stab folks where most wouldn’t want to be cut. There is a plot, of a woman named Sara who in the opening scenes is indoctrinated by fellow acolytes of the asshole, and during a threesome, their charismatic leader (a true man of the poophole) drops dead. She is taken away, put in jail, where she promptly escapes only to be gotten in the end, (the rear end). Turns out their leader wasn’t dead after all, but shows up in the final moments of the film to let her know that he is very much alive. I guess he just couldn’t stand to leave her behind…This unholy fusion of anal penetration, occult themes and evil men in cloaks coercing poor women into ritualistic abusive anal sex will strike some as asinine, others as unholy. All however, must concede that this film is indeed truly “ass-holy” in its basic theme, mood and execution.
