You must click Thanks to see the upload link!
Some members force you to click "Thanks" to be able to see their content and download this
I dont like this. Why do they do it? Its very annoying. I like to click thanks after I have downloaded the file, it may be poor quality, or sometimes the file is no longer there. So they got a thanks for no good reason. Why do you they do this? I don't think its a good idea. What do you think?

IMO, there are both good (protection of links from Spiders/Bots*) and bad (artificially pumping up one's "thanked posts" numbers) reasons, but since a relatively small percentage of posts are affected, I don't think it's a thing, at this point.
But if everyone starts doing this, then yes, it may become an issue. * - coding links accomplishes this as well. |

I think it's worse having to actually register to a website, and give out all your informations, in order to be able to download something, rather than just click a simple button.
I've been using the HIDE tool for my links as I personally upload the content I post (which, sometimes, takes me hours to find and upload), and don't want someone to copy and paste my links and try, maybe, to pass as theirs or make a few bucks on another forum. This was already discussed in the "If you were an Admin......" thread, btw. At the end of the day it's a personal choice. I honestly could care less about the "Thanks" numbers I get, as there are always people who always thank me in the thread, anyway.

I remember that back in the day, one could remove their thanks from a post.
If this capability was restored, one could thank a post in order to see the link to a scene, and then remove them if the scene is of poor quality, or the description misleading.
