The auto delete thing has been happening to me , but only with flash drives . I'll plug one in and it will start reading it then delete everything , then says it needs to be formatted to work .I even bought new flash drives to try to save whatever i can , but it makes them unusable too .

Dont want to send it to the factory...cause its all porn....any idea on discrete data recovery services...

its 5TB of HC ...so I would like to save it

any ideas let me know..

They don't look and don't care. They are way too busy to look at all of the data on every drive that gets returned.

They test it to decide if its serviceable, and then process it accordingly.

For external drives make sure that they are set for Quick Removal in the Device Manager. Quick Removal is default but you may have changed it for what reason. Also I find ensuring that you have a bit of slack with the USB cable prevents small bumps from shifting the connectors.
