He was in most of my classes in jr. and high school.
I hung out with him for awhile one year in summer school.
We never hit it off because he was a better student, and into guitars
instead of drugs/motor cycles/cars.
I remember we though he was nuts for paying thousands of $ for a Stratocaster.

The good old days ... gone by, so fast.
For me, it feels like it was yesterday.

I also knew a couple of amazing guitar players back in my high school years.
They were always the quiet type. Very silent and always wanting to get
back home to practice a new song on their guitar. But they sure
could drink alot of Budweisers when we were hanging out at some
party, or cutting classes and hanging out at the park with some girls
Metallica was known for drinking alot of beer.

I'm with ya on the time flying.
Yeah.. I had Kirk drinking vodka with warm Budweiser chasers in my family's garage.
That was in El Sobrante CA.
Les Claypool, and Joe Satriani were from there too.
Kirk's mom used to tell the checkers at Lucky's up the street, stories of Kirk touring with Ozzy.
And Kirk bought a new car for his next door neighbor, for putting up with his noise over the years.
Later, when Metallica got their own place, they moved to El Cerrito into a place down the block from me.
I also lived near CCR in El Cerrito. They used to come into Payless, where my mom, and I worked, a lot.
I liked their gloomy stuff, "Tombstome Shadow", "Sinister Purpose", and "Graveyard Train".

Yeah, Trouble were great too. R.I.P. Eric Wagner. A Christian doom metal band? Who knew those two genres could coexist? In fact, Black Sabbath wrote a song that could almost be called Christian. Awesome riffing in this one, but then what Sabbath song doesn't have awesome riffing?
