Ergonomic Mice, any suggestions?
Hi
I've had the early stages of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome for probably decades, and have thus had to use an ergonomic keyboard and mouse. Currently I have 2 ergonomic mice to choose from: Evoluent Vertical Mouse 3 - unfortunately after roughly 5 years of service, the 'left click' button appears to have given up. Delux M618X - bought this on an IndieGoGo thingy, and I like its adjustability, it's just that Delux appear to be absolutely shite at support, it doesn't seem to connect very well sometimes, so it will be really quick to react one minute, and do nothing the next. So, I'm considering buying a new mouse, but these mice range from 'cheap and not always cheerful' (or as I call it 'Amazon Basics') to 'fuck me how much? (Contour Designs 'mouse rollers'), therefore I wondered whether anyone else here had experience/recommendations. I know these things are, to a degree, subjective, and Amazon reviews aren't much help as every mouse has reviews from 'it's shit' to 'best mouse I've ever owned.' But I would appreciate it if anyone who has used any recently has any reviews, particularly of the Contour Design Ergonomic Vertical Mouse (a lot of reviews on Amazon complain about software issues), and the newer generation of 'trackball' mice, such as Logitech's MX Ergo. Thanks Gwynd |

I've not used any of those type of mice long enough to form a real opinion. Based on limited usage, I don't like them. But I understand why they exist. And to get a meaningful review, it would need to be from someone that uses them consistently.
Sadly, at most places, including Amazon, many of the reviews are meaningless. I immediately ignore any post that doesn't actually review the product, followed by the posts where the product didn't do what the purchaser wanted. For example, the people that say "it arrived broken and I had to send it back for replacement" and then proceed to give it 1 star (like why, you didn't even use it). That is not a review of the product, and in my opinion, those should all be removed. Likewise with the reviews where they bought product A because they thought or hoped it would do XYZ, but it only does ABC. So because it doesn't do what they want, it gets 1 star. Sorry, didn't mean to derail your topic. Just a little Saturday morning rant. I hate looking through reviews for relevant information. |

It could also help to view some YouTube video reviews: being able to actually see how the devices you are interested in are used (ie what movements are needed to operate them) could be useful to inform your decision as to which one to go for.
