Happy Birthday Macintosh!
On this day, in 1984, Apple introduced the Macintosh (the first successful personal computer to use a graphical user interface) to the world in a commercial aired at that years Super Bowl XVIII.
Two days later the machine was launched and the rest is history!

They used to be great machines.
I still remember the first day I got my very first G3 Mac. I was happy than ever. Not that I didn't liked Windows (matter of fact, I always used both). But Mac OS had that something unique that Windows didn't had: simplicity and a great UI. They should've just stick to create computers only, rather than other gadgets. Because ever since they started focusing more on their iPhones and its ecosystem, they definitely went downhill on the Mac side of things (machines with no proper cooling, fans that get broken, batteries that melt, etcetera).

Having said that, I'd be the first to admit Apple's preoccupation with telephones has left me feeling a bit rejected by my first love. After all, if it wasn't for me and my ilk's original loyalty/fascination/sustainability with all things Mac in the 80's and 90's, the Apple Telephone Company might not have been in existence in the 00s to create the world's preferred digital widget. After all, by the time Gilbert Aimelio got his mitts on Apple, they were almost drawing their last breath. |

I hear the cult's fruitarian diet can be a bitch, I wouldn't recommend it.

I had colleagues who did professional audio-video editing with Macs for years and they switched to Windows as soon as Apple dropped that abomination that is Final Cut Pro X (which is basically a restyled iMovie with a cool interface to make it look professional). Don't get me started on the whole Mac Pro thing that seriously gave many professionals headaches, as they were expecting a brand new and powerful upgradeable Mac Pro for years, and not an iMac Pro. All those people started to feel cheated by Apple, and its continuous promises about a new Mac Pro. What is MacOS now? It's basically a overblown iOS version for computers with Siri, and other crap to sync your iDevices with. No more open-source and FREE softwares (it's all in the App Store now), like it was for years. And programmers who did open-source softwares, which helped a ton of people over the years, just simply abandoned the platform altogether. As with all the new security stuff thrown in by Apple, it's no longer an OS that you can use without having the annoying security center blocking the App for lack of a valid certificate. Oh, and you can't run any Apple legacy software at all. Unlike Windows, which still does support legacy softwares and even 3rd party plugins that were created during the XP era. It's all a joke, now. Build yourself your own rig, if you can. Not only you will save some $1200 that you just pay to Apple for the logo. But you'll also get a machine that you can upgrade and continue to use over the years.

I'd say that the new M1 processor, made in house, is a major leap forward.
