Free 4K video player for MacOS?
Can anyone please recommend a free 4K video player for my poor old 2010 Macbook (High Sierra)?
I normally use VLC, but it stutters when playing 4K Or a free program that can downgrade vids from 4K to 1080p/720p? Thanks in advance |

MPEG Streamclip should allow you to re-size any video: give it a try, it's free.

The problem with most 4K movies/videos is not so much the resolution, but rather the codec the videos are using (HEVC vs H.264) as well as the HDR BT2020 profile and color space.
Needless to say that if you've got an old PC that it's not super fast, you will definitely struggle to convert/playback these videos/movies. For that reason, I highly recommend getting either the 1080p version or a 4K re-encoded version that is encoded in H.264 instead of HEVC. You will definitely save yourself some unnecessary headaches and troubles that way.
