Quick question for whoever is well-steeped in GIMP features...
I need a WIndows 10, 64-bit photo editing program, which lets me crop a picture, AND, allows me to view the size in pixels as I'm cropping, so I can verify it size before saving the cropped photo (I'm creating wallpapers for my tablet from pictures, as well as for my laptop). Vista's resident photo software did that, but Win10 doesn't, Paint does everything but, and the Lenovo Photo Master ain't so masterful. Does GIMP fit the bill for my needs? Thanks... |

It is not more easy to make a template, with the size of wallpaper for tablet, drop in that template the image, and move resize how yo want, then save as jpg?...

Quote:
for tablet: - if less than 1024x600 or 600x1024: cut out part of image to use as wallpaper with 1.7:1 res - if greater than 1024x600 or 600x1024: cut off outer parts of image until res is 1.7:1 for laptop: - crop any/all pics to 1.78:1 res (display is 1366x768; "fill" setting for desktop background blows up the pic to fit). |

THANKS, you re right, the lasso is there and prob the best option
I tried the scissors but could nt figure how to get hold of the image once Id gone round it with the lasso, I circle the image then cut and paste it into the other gimp window. Prob Im having though is I do some work, maybe 6 mins doing the lasso etc, then suddenly a window comes up... gimp is having problems and will have to close..... so I lose everything. this is on a laptop with windows 7 never had this prob with gimp on my desk top with xp ! gimp was solid as a rock ! |

was using lasoo to go around a figure
got near the end and it messed up and had to start again. decided to zoom in on the figure then I used the lassoo tool only to the waist I saved that file then did the waist down so now have two files for one figure but it works ok so much easier to use the lasoo tool when the figure is zoomed in |
