Alex Trebek Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer
Statement from Trebek: "Now normally, the prognosis for this is not very encouraging, but I’m going to fight this, and I’m going to keep working,” he said in the video. "And I'm going to keep working and with the love and support of my family and friends and I plan to beat the low survival rate statistics for this disease."
For almost a year there was talk about whether Trebek would be retiring from the show but I don't think his cancer was part of the equation (I don't think he knew). He did end up renewing his contract back in October through 2022. The prognosis for stage 4 pancreatic cancer is 2 to 6 months. Damn. I hope he beats, or at least is able to keep it in check, (there have been cases); there is no Jeopardy without Trebek! |

This sucks. I couldn't really get into Jeopardy (besides the Ken Jennings streak); but Alex seemed like a cool guy.
Hopefully he beats the cancer, Amy Brown from Alaskan Bush People just beat hers and I think she had only like a 4% chance of living. |

I heard this news earlier. Really tough to hear. I know the odds are long but I hope its something he can overcome.

"I plan to beat the low survival rate statistics for this disease. Truth told I have to because under the terms of my contract I have to host Jeopardy for 3 more years."
What a flipping trooper! Still Funny in the face of very scary odds. I'm pulling for him! |

We all knew he wasn't going to be around forever. But I agree, what a great and brave way to face it. I hope for his sake and his fans' sake he beats this thing.
And not wanting to look too far down the road but who would be an adequate replacement of a host for Alex? I wonder if he has an opinion or two. |

How long has he known he had Stage 4 and when he was told about it by the doctors, it was already at Stage 4?

Well news channels have been doing a lot of stories since this news broke about how hard it is to detect pancreatic cancer early and how very hard it is to treat, so I feel pretty certain he didn't know about it until very recently.
He also just signed a new contract a few months ago so..... Yeah he is at stage 4 now; has spread to other organs. I think they said at this stage the survival rate is 3%. So really really really......bad! |

You'd think with all the medical advances and technology they would be able to detect it sooner.
