Yeah, I don't know specifically what sci-fi flicks are not available on DVD, but I'm still sure there are quite a few ones still not released anywhere. I remember Damnation Alley was one, I've only seen the movie in early 2011, from a VHS copy, as it was only available on VHS for 26 years, but finally they released a DVD in July, last year.

The 1993 Fantastic Four movie comes to mind as a bootleg only movie. I don't think it'll ever be released on DVD...

Indeed a myth....... Most all of my VHS MOVIES are gorgeous!!!

I think with files, the picture quality the VHS is like Dvd's and Bluray's in that it depends on the rip/ripper. A good vhs rip is good enough to me personally. A good program with the correct settings can make media look better than the source sometimes; as I have made a dvd look way better ripping it than it looks on disc.

Bluray has a flaw that I have seen a lot of people agree with me in: the darkness is overdone a lot of times; and the sound is overly done.
