itunes Sorting Problem
I would like to sort my itunes chronologically but I cant figure it out. I know that there is a sort by year feature but sometimes artists will come out with multiple albums in the same year. itunes will just put them in alphabetical order in that case. For eample: The Beatles released Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band on June 1st, 1967 and Magical Mystery Tour on November 27th, 1967. My itunes puts Magical Mystery Tour first. Is there a way to fix this or am I too picky?

Let me start by mentioning that you can't add a month to the year field, it only allows for 4 characters. That is a limitation in the way they configured ID3 tags.
Sorry about my opinionated view, but I think iTunes sucks. It may be fine for those that just want the basics, but if you want something that does everything then get MediaMonkey. I can't even figure out how to sort Artist/Name or Artist/Year in iTunes without limiting the list to just the Artist which then allows you to sort by either Name or Year. You can highlight an entire disc and choose to get info which opens a window with a sorting tab where you can edit things to get a different way to sort, but they don't allow you to name things with Month like you would like. Although it can be done, they method they provide can be fairly labor intensive. In MediaMonkey you can hold down the Ctrl key and click any number of columns to sort by, this allows for a hierarchy style sort. MediaMonkey also gives you 5 custom columns you can name and use for anything you like. This way you can name one of the custom columns Month and enter the month number in it, remember to use a leading zero as in 02 instead of just 2 otherwise it places 10 in front of 2. To enter the month for a disc you would highlight all the tracks, choose properties then enter the Month # on the classifications tab. Now when you hold down the Ctrl key and click Artist then Year then Month you will get the albums sorted exactly the way you're looking for.
