My laptop came with a 6 month free offering of Webroot SecureAnywhere and now that it's expiring soon, I need a free antivirus.

I was looking at AVG, Avira, Avast, Panda & Zone Alarm but as usual 5 people thinks it's great and the other 5 think Hitler invented it.

I would install the MSE that's ran very well on my Win7 desktop but of course it doesn't work in 10 and I've never trusted Windows defender.

I plan on sticking with the default firewall.

Suggestions for Win10 av?

Basically they combined windows Defender from Win vista and Win 7 with Microsoft Security Essentials and re-named it Windows Defender and then built it into Win 8 etc and Win 10.
Looks the same, runs the same but with new name.
Works well and is free, if you where happy with MSE then stick with it in Win 10, i can't think of anything else free that works as well for Win 10.

Yes, Windows Defender (MSE under another name) is built in to Windows 10 and will be automatically switched on if no other AV is installed.

If you uninstall Webroot when it runs out then Windows Defender will switch itself on automatically.
