Windows 10 Antivirus?
My laptop came with a 6 month free offering of Webroot SecureAnywhere and now that it's expiring soon, I need a free antivirus.
I was looking at AVG, Avira, Avast, Panda & Zone Alarm but as usual 5 people thinks it's great and the other 5 think Hitler invented it. Code:

Basically they combined windows Defender from Win vista and Win 7 with Microsoft Security Essentials and re-named it Windows Defender and then built it into Win 8 etc and Win 10.

Looks the same, runs the same but with new name. Works well and is free, if you where happy with MSE then stick with it in Win 10, i can't think of anything else free that works as well for Win 10. check out this link, i have included some info from the page i think it will help and answer a few questions for you. http://support.microsoft.com/en-nz/...tials-download "Windows Defender is built into the latest versions of Windows and helps guard your PC against viruses and other malware. For a PC running an older version of Windows 7, you can download Microsoft Security Essentials for the low, low price of free. Windows Defender for Windows 8, Windows RT, Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, and Windows 10 provides built-in protection against malware. You can't use Microsoft Security Essentials, but you don't need to—Windows Defender is already included and ready to go. If you’re looking to protect a PC with an older version of running Windows 7, you can use Microsoft Security Essentials to provide comprehensive malware protection that will help guard against viruses, spyware, and other malicious software. It provides free* real-time protection for your home or small business PCs. Note: Windows Defender is also available in Windows 7. However, in Windows 7, Defender only provides protection against spyware. In the Windows 8, Windows RT, Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, and Windows 10, Windows Defender provides full malware protection for your PC. Malware consists of viruses, spyware, and other potentially unwanted software. " |

Yes, Windows Defender (MSE under another name) is built in to Windows 10 and will be automatically switched on if no other AV is installed.
If you uninstall Webroot when it runs out then Windows Defender will switch itself on automatically. |
