i find it curious that the US and UK have 2 diff pronunciations for his last name...neither of which the way he intended!
his kid duncan "zowie bowie", btw -- does that not rhyme in the UK? in the US it does just fine while treating it as a cutesy spelling for "zoe(y)", but it would seem that that wouldn't work in the UK. u either have to pick "zoe(y)" or the rhyme, no? ironically, the third pronunciation of his father's name -- original way he intended -- rhymes with the other common version of zoe(y). it's just the UK bowie that seems odd man out here. |

city of salem MA -- she of witch fame -- is giving a talk thurs night on "bowie's connection to salem".
this is gonna be lame. afaik, there is NO connection whatsoever. now taking bets. is it going to be: 1) 3d cousin lived here briefly after immigrating to the US 2) bowie visited as a tourist for all of 45 mins one summer 3) minor, late-era band member -- 9th drummer, say -- grew up here 4) one of his videos full of otherworldly imagery was set/shot here 5) duncan jones (first child) enjoyed Bewitched as a child place your bets now!!!! (no fair googling) |
