Drunk Zombie Santa Terrifies Teens
Quote:
A 14-year-old boy was washing the dishes in his St. Thomas-area St. Paul home around 9:45 p.m. Saturday night when he and his 16-year-old sister got the scare of their lives.
Through the door suddenly walked a drunken zombie in a Santa Claus suit, later identified as Brock Johnson, a 21-year-old St. Thomas senior who had apparently been out partying on the night of the Zombie Pub Crawl and was so blasted he thought he was actually back in his Roseville residence.

The boy fled from the house and called police, who found Johnson passed out on the couch, unresponsive, with a pile of puke nearby, St. Paul Police Department spokesman Paul Paulos tells us. His sister, meanwhile, locked herself in a bathroom.
Johnson was hauled to detox and later cited for trespassing.
"We don't believe it was a burglary, that he had intent to take items from the home," Paulos says. "From that standpoint we brought him to detox to be watched. When we bring people to detox it's not because we want to have an inconvenience, it's because people can't care for themselves."
While Paulos says he thinks Johnson making it to detox was "a good thing," he adds, "It was an unfortunate thing for the people that he came across."
"The young people that he did come in contact with -- a zombie in a Santa suit, would you be scared?" Paulos continues, adding with a laugh, "Absolutely, you would be!"
Asked what Johnson told authorities once he sobered up a bit, Paulos says, "He thought he was at his residence in the city of Roseville, not St. Paul... He stated he was out with friends."
Paulos doesn't know for sure if Johnson was at the Zombie Pub Crawl before making his way to the St. Thomas area, but says, "Given that it was one of the largest Zombie Pub Crawls ever and he was a zombie in a Santa suit, I'd think so."
The teens' father, Tom Sullivan, told the Pioneer Press, "No one will ever think of Santa the same way."
"If you're going to have a break-in, this is the best kind -- someone who means no harm and was looking for a place to sleep," he continued.
Zombie Santa aside, Paulos says the St. Paul PD didn't experience a noticeable spike in booze-related calls Saturday night. Somewhat surprisingly given the crawl occurred in downtown Minneapolis, MPD spokesperson John Elder tells us his department didn't issue a disproportionate number of booze-related citations on ZPC night either.
