Mac Help - using an Apple Macintosh
Here are my favorite (FREE) programs for the Mac:
1. Split and Concat - to do the obvious http://xs4all.nl/~loekjehe/Split&Concat/ 2. VLC - Best video player - plays everything! http://videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html 3. Perian - Enables Quicktime to play almost everything. http://apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/perian.html 4. Flip4Mac - Play Windows Media files with Quicktime http://flip4mac.com/ 5. UnRarX - again what it does is obvious http://unrarx.com/ 6. Snap Pro X - screen capture movies (not free) http://ambrosiasw.com/utilities/snapzprox/ |

Hi All,
I would like to add this 7th item to vassar's list. 7. Mpeg Streamclip - Converts most formats into those of your choice, and does so faster than most other programs. Lets you extract audio into mp3's, and will even let you apply a simple text watermark to a movie. http://squared5.com/ BTW, toyman76, Yes, it is old news, to us.... But remember that everyday there is a new MAC user joining the community (many have defected from windows, sickened by micro$oft's ethos), and they need to learn the obvious just the same as we did when we started.

I never came across that problem before. Are sure you you are selecting all of the .rar files of a scene (if it is split, of course) before opening them? In the case of multiple rars, you need to select them all at once (by higlighting them), then opening them with command O, or File - Open. Best of luck

Hey Mac users, have a list of files like this?
On Windows, you need HJSplit. On Macs, forget that shit! BetterZip does it faster on Macs than HJSplit does it on Windows. I think it was the April 09 release that made joining multisegment movie files automatic. Just double-click the first file (filename.avi.001) and it joins them. Previously, you'd have to use Terminal commands (not hard, just awkward), or boot into virtual Windows to use HJSplit (not hard, just dumb). http://versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/29764 |
