How often and why do you use the thanks key?

In scenes I download I must say I use it 98% of the time (with 2% of ''I forgot'')

If I enter P.S. with the intention to seek but not download I use the thanks only to say thanks to all ''good-in-my-criteria'' scenes I found but since sometimes I don´t connect to P.S lets roughly say I press the thanks key between 40-60% of the scenes I found interesting enough to say thanks.

If I add the scenes I actually download and the scenes I already have in my download list I would roughly say I ''thanks'' to 50-65% with a 98% to all actually downloaded scenes.

What are the criteria of the people here on PS to use the thanks key?

As a new member from March and more of a pic downloader than vids, I've come to use the Thanks button for those models who I've always enjoyed. I'm quick to use Thanks for a hard to find or brand new set (though not a set considered brand new just because a different site releases it, aka Acti0nG1rls, V!pAr3a...).

I'll use Thanks for an answer or comment that helps or I agree with, or for someone who ID'd a babe in the Identify Models thread.

I will, however, hold my Thanks for any set in which the link is only shown if I thank, unless it's the only thread I can find the set. I understand why hiding a link is necessary, but what if it does not meet my expectations? What if the link is dead? What if the link is incorrect and I download something I didn't want? It's up to me to come and rescind my thanks. That's like telling my girlfriend thanks for putting the dishes away, only having to approach her and say, "I take my thanks back" because I found pots and pans in the garage and the plates by the maple tree outside. She won't change, she'll more than likely be pissed off at me even though she erred and at the ultimate finale, I'll end looking like the jerk.

I have, on a limited amount, used the Reputation button to thank a member overall for providing consistent content or as I did recently, thanking a member for having active links that are years old that allowed me to complete a collection.

I average about 8 thanks per day and that matches close to how many times I download from our awesome PS forum.

Every time I download a movie clip I thank the poster. Most of the time in discussion threads if the person made a good point or a well thought out discussion in a thread (even if I don't agree with it) I will still give them thanx.

Thats why I have +11k thanks button hits.

i thank any thing that distract my attention , but mostly for the contributes of other members witch i like beside it's something makes the poster get encouraged to do more in the future

A few times I forget to thank and it makes me feel guilty... sad huh?

Anyway reasons why I thank include wanting to see more uploads of a specific model/clips where it came from, agreeing with what was said, appreciating what was said for example if it was advice or help. If the uploader has posted multiple links to download and the file is even just mediocre to me I thank simply because they posted 3 links and a half decent file.

Not all forums are as cool as PS and have a 'thanks' button so sometimes I go to hit thanks and there isn't one. Anyone else do this?

Each and every time I download a movie clip I thank the poster; I also thank posters who have done some sort of constructive re-work on a video, even if I do not d/load it, as some time/effort goes into that so I assume they are not simply chasing $.
(That does not include quickly knocking the quality out of a video to scrape under the 400mb 'bar' though).

Fact is (for me anyway) there is not much I d/load any more as I have such little interest in most of the crap churning out from Bra$$ers, BBr0s, Norty Amer!ca, etc, etc.
Their 2 Euro counterparts usually fare a bit better, unless spoiled by 'enhanced' girl/s.
Those posters who post scenes by dissecting a DVD is fine, but by then I usually have the ful DVD, or at least have had access to it if I wanted it.

So little is really new; gone are the days of digging through PATM, the tedium of finding yet another repost has killed the former fun of that for me.

I don't get involved in many discussions, but thanks go to most all posts in those if I do, since without them the topic would barely exist!!
I occasionally thank a good point in a discussion I choose not to get involved with, which is most, since it takes a good title to garner interest these days.

Anyone who posts something which is helpful to me, now or possibly at some future point.

There are still many great people here, but overall sorting the wheat from the chaff becomes too tiresome to bother as new members compete in those areas where they can try to get recognition in order to start $ posting.

On 'the other' board when modding I have a rule of thumb - if the poster has a thanks ratio of about 10% or more of their total post number, I will thank the post on checking. Unfortunately these days many/most posters have thanks in single figures, or often even none (typically, but not confined to Oron users), so I, in turn reciprocate, and don't thank them on checking.
