It is very tempting to respond in kind to your tone. But I'll point out that while colors and brightness are a problem, it's not a bad rip in terms of noise and detail. I have no problem seeing what's going on. And it's probably a better version than no version of the movie.

Well, it turns out bob had it right all along. A better copy did show up from a VHS source.
I didn't see it when searching and would have skipped posting my version if I knew its existence to be the case. As a typical DVD rip, my version has less noise and better details as it is newer. But that hardly matters when the colors are fucked up. It's a malfunction of the DVD and not an encoding mistake. The studio botched this DVD release.

I guess people can judge for themselves but I'm downloading the VHS-capture, and deleting my rip afterward! But since I have already posted it I'll keep the links active.
