My own rip from the French DVD. Encoded to Xvid at full resolution and high quality settings. The picture quality is excellent, almost but not quite as good as Sensations.

Directed by the great pioneer of quality porn, Lasse Braun, this was his third feature film. Braun had already produced and directed dozens of hardcore loops since the late 1960s, but he'd made very few full length features.

This film stars the incredible Catherine Ringer, who plays Martine, the teenage daughter of a baron (Jean Gerard Sorlin). Martine is a sexy but spoiled young lesbian, who has a steamy and possessive affair with the lovely blonde Gilda (Gilda Arancio). Martine also has a sex slave named Nana (Gemma Gimenez), a girl from Uruguay, who lives in a travel trailer on the palace grounds. She shares her sex slave with a reporter (Jacques Gateau) who befriends her after interviewing her stepmother, Glenda (Gwenda Farnel), an actress who will soon be appearing in her first porn film.

Catherine is a cult fave who was a sexual dynamo, a glutton for sexual perversion, with a haughty, self-assured attitude. She performed in about 20 or so hardcore films, and later made her fame as lead singer for the french rock group Les Rita Mitsouko. See her wikipedia entry:

There are only four sex scenes, but they are all very hot, and anything but normal -- just what one would expect from Braun. Rather than attempt to describe the scenes, I think I'll let you be surprised, since the element of surprise is one of the delights of the film.

Gwenda Farnel has a superb body, despite her fake boobs, which were very unusual for the mid-1970s. This was long before boob jobs became popular (Rene Bond was one of the only other porn stars to get a boob job before then). Notice when Gwenda comes in naked out of the rain to tell the baron about her encounter with two guys, as she's standing by the grand piano -- we get to see her naked body at its full height, and her figure is really statuesque.

Gilda Arancio appeared in many early to mid 70s adult films, including softcore and some of the earliest French hardcore productions. She worked with many of the great directors of the era, including Jean Desvilles, Jean Rollin, Jean-Marie Pallardy, Jess Franco, Joe d'Amato, Jose Benazeraf, Max Pecas, and Torgny Wickman.

Gemma Gimenez is a one-shot wonder who has a steamy scene with Jacques Gateau. She gives him an excellent bj and has a luscious young body -- it's a real shame she never appeared on screen again.

Evelyne Manta was not credited or listed anywhere online when I first posted this, but I was sure she is the lovely Asian actress in the orgy. Originally, Iafd miscredited her as Eva Quang, who appeared in Braun's Sensations. Anyone who has seen Je suis une belle salope can hardly forget Evelyne's hot threeway with Brigitte Lahaie and Jean-Louis Vattier, and after rewatching that film, I recognized her as the same Asian actress who appears in Body Love.

I submitted corrections to both Egafd and Iafd re Evelyne Manta and they added her to their cast lists.

I have some additional trivia on the film:

It was shot in Holland with a mostly French cast. On the net I found the story of one Janosh, who was hired as an extra for the movie (through a prominent Dutch agency). He tells us the movie is shot at the castle Groeneveld in Baarn. Nowadays it is the national centre for nature and landscape (owned by the Ministry of Agriculture); at the time of filming (September 1976, according to Janosh) it was owned by the state and used by artists (and in dilapidated state). The big house where Gwenda Farnel arrives in her (Dutch) Mercedes car is definitely this castle.

Janosh writes he was hired as an extra in "a French movie", which turned out to be Body Love by Lasse Braun. He was screened for his knowledge of French. He was then asked to memorize the text:

"Il nous est indispensable de trouver une solution positive avant 1984 (mille neuf cent quatre vingt quatre) pour eviter le cataclysme et pour utiliser d'une maniere benefique cette tension electromagnetique." (which is a surprising line for the movie in question)

The scene he took part in was at a funeral. He was asked to be part of the group or mourners. During the funeral an actress was taken from behind, without the rest of the attendants noticing... (I did not find this scene in the movie; it must have ended up on the cutting room floor...).

Once more evidence of the fact that Lasse Braun took a lot of trouble and artistic effort in making his movies. That, of course, still shows!

Later: the funeral scene actually did appear in a companion film, titled Love Inferno, which was probably shot around the same time as Body Love. The lines that Janosh was asked to memorize fit better with that film also, although they were not used in the final cut.

There are only four major sex scenes but they are well filmed, exciting and a genuine turn-on. Lasse Braun is no stranger here to eroticism. Body Love is different than his usual porn films. With higher production values, better story and original music (by ex-Tangerine Dream electronics whiz Klaus Schulze) it appears to be aiming for the larger arthouse soft porn audience that films like Emmannuelle were attracting. I think Klaus Schulze's soundscapes elevate this very attractive "arthouse" porn film into a genuine trippy experience.
