OddBa11 is correct. Bitrate can and will make a massive difference to quality. Click on the two thumbs below to expand the pics so that you can see the change in quality. The first is a screenshot from a movie with a bitrate of just over 5000Kbs, the second is a screenshot the same frame from the same movie which has been re-encoded a 950Kbs.
While I would consider the first one HD by p0rn standards it isn't really close to real HD - simply because of the bitrate.
