I don't know Stash, but the others are media servers. There's some overlap with a solution that's purely for management, but overall it's a different product. Doesn't surprise me that it didn't work out for you.

You can do that, but it definitely has diminishing returns the larger your collection becomes and just stops working entirely at some point.
