how do i strike thru text here? neither the "s" tag nor the "del" tag works.
and yet, i'm pretty sure i've seen it in others' posts before. what's the trick? |

BAH! u mock me, good sir!! :(
|
nah :)
im not sure if the forum has any shortcuts for it but try googling strikethrough unicode. |
i'm just teasing. i was actually thinking of swearing back at u -- jokingly -- striking it out, and changing it to "thank u". :p
but try as i may, i could not reverse engineer how u did that! reply window showed your text already struck thru -- not set off with magic tags as i was expecting -- as did page source even! (with the odd quirk that the strikethru runs one char late there. i.e. the "y" is unstruck, then everything else PLUS ONE MORE, UNRELATED, CHAR is struckthru) on google, i find tags "del" and "s", the latter a replacement for earlier tag "strike". i tried all 3. i also find no shortage of shortcuts and hotkeys -- "alt-H-4", "ctrl-shift-S", "ctrl-D, alt-K" in sequence, "ctrl-D, ctrl-alt-plus" in sequence, strikethru key on some "font control popup" (not the one here in the reply window, i should note), to setting "CSS attribute: text-decoration = line-through")...NONE of which work!! (except for that last one which i don't even know what to do with) finally, i considered that maybe there is a struckthru CHARSET. but neither my charmap nor anything googling up reveals one. so i cudn't even do a cut-paste from there. as a KLUDGE, i figure i'll just cut/paste your reply as is, then insert my text in the middle and trim away yours from the sides (leaving mine inside w/e strikethru macro is at play, even if i can't see it, but that didn't work either. w/e i inserted shows up naked (e.g. y̶o̶u̶ ̶m̶e̶TESTa̶n̶ ̶l̶i̶k̶e̶ ̶t̶h̶i̶s̶ ̶?̶) so THAT was a wash. thinking back to my early days on a VT-100, i wonder if it's some sort of "backspace" trick -- letting u overlay a regular hyphen -- but i wouldn't have a CLUE how to effect one. so i think i am officially at the end. should i get a sharpie and draw it in before hitting post? |
hang on....
t̶e̶s̶t̶ :D |
Once upon a time all you had to do was type this:
Code:
[s] words here [/s] There is/was the option to add as a 'Custom Code' in vB: Title: Strikethrough Tag: Strike Replacement: <strike>{param}</strike> So, I guess DragonByte took that out as well. There are a number of websites that can provide you with the ability to copy paste text with S̵t̵r̵i̵k̵e̵t̵h̵r̵o̵u̵g̵h̵ ̵b̵u̵i̵l̵t̵ ̵i̵n̵ |
yeah, i mentioned the "s" tag in the OP.
i finally got it done via one of those websites, but how are they actually achieving this? i thought i could figure this out via page sources, but i cannot. what is the actual, DIY, way to accomplish this? |
